Happy Halloween to all of DA!

Well, things have been pretty bland over here on the Windy side of things. Latin dance, ballet, violin, rpgs, homework slowly killing me.... the usual. But as the leaves change from green to ruby shades of autumn and the scent of cany corn taints the air, I find that thinks are finally turning interesting. For one thing, we had a Halloween Party at Anime Club last Sunday, complete with costume contest, so I came in full costume. It was a nice trial run for what was to come on the great All Hallows' Eve, and the results were rather amusing...

This year I decided to go as a maid from the Haunted Mansion in Disney, simply be basis of trial and error. Since NatCat's idea of Swingshift Cinderella wasn't working out too well in my mind, I decided to just browse and see what I got. It ended up with a nicely torn maid's costume, and mum suggested it was Haunted Mansion-esque and I, being the lover of all things grim, grinning, and ghostly, totally loved the idea. But the, as things normally do in my mind, I had barely tried on the costume when ideas started popping into my brain. Soon I had my little maid a personality and motive for what she did: to collect a list of people on Halloween to come join the 999 happy haunts. And so it became that my new split personality became a recruter for the Haunted Mansion. I even gave her a name, Esmerelda, based off a fancier varient of the steriotypical maid names Elsa and Esme. All I needed was a test run, and here's what happened:

I overshot the Disney maid by miles and ended up a serial killer.

I'm not even kidding. that's how everyone saw me. Probably my own fault, though, I made Esmerelda kinda creepy. Staring long stares at people with darkly ringed eyes, sneaking up behind them to whisper creepy little Haunted Mansion stock phrases, following some around the room. People went out of their way to avoid me. Actually asking people to join to Mansion kinda added to that. Asking them in a hushed, haunting voice to "Join our number", reminding them that "Mortals must pay a small token fee before entering", directing them to "Sign your name away to us", informing them that "You may come to us when they are ready to depart", and assuring them "Don't call us, we'll know where you are". Once I even picked up a knife that was lying around on the table just to see what would happen and everyone ran screaming from the room.

I've never had so much fun!

But then the party ended and I reverted back to my old self. But as I got in the car dad informed me that we needed to stop at Wal-MArt to pick up stuff for mum.

Needless to say, walking around Wal-Mart in a maid costume attracts some rather unsusual stares...

But that was Sunday. Now it's Wednesday and I'm gearing up for the big day. There's going to be a haunted house in the neighborhood so we're gonna hit that along with two other neighborhoods. I'm hoping I can compile all the signatures I get into an art piece. After that I'll be gone all November for the NaNoWriMo contest. Anyone out there who is a writer and hadn't heard about t should seriously check it out. It's simple but hard:
